Pilates

Since completing my first APPI Matwork Pilates Course in 2013 and becoming a fully qualified APPI Pilates instructor, I love having the opportunity to both teach and practise Pilates regularly.

APPI Pilates is a Modified Pilates, that can be used as both an exercise for fitness and health and for rehabilitation with a therapy focus. It can often be recommended by other medical professionals.

You will be guided through the Pilates principles teaching you how to focus on your breathing, core control, posture, movement control and flow. Exercises are demonstrated at a level that suits you and your body, enabling you to progress and challenge yourself.

Many people use Modified Pilates to help support healthy ageing, back care or to help them manage long-term conditions. Others use it to support other forms of exercise and reduce their risk of injury by improving their body awareness, strength, flexibility, balance and posture. Or to counteract an inactive lifestyle or a job that involves repetitive movement.

If you are returning to Pilates after a break or a change in health or are new to this style of Pilates then please talk to the Therapist prior to booking to discuss which class you are better to book onto.

I now run Pilates for Menopause workshops and courses. Kept at a small group size, these sessions provide a more focused approach to help you gain confidence with practise at home skills. Contact me for me information about up coming events.

In the Studio - Classes are kept to a maximum of 13 attendees. It is recommended that people start in the Beginner classes and progress up to the Intermediate classes in agreement with the Therapist. If you are returning to Pilates after a break, a change in health or you are new to this style of Pilates, please talk to the Therapist prior to booking to discuss which class you are best suited to.

All Class attendees are required to fill in a Digital Health form and attend a compulsory in person 1 to 1 before committing to the Studio classes. The 1 to 1 enables assessment of any health needs and modifications you may require during the classes. We will go through the basic Pilates principles to ensure you are aware of these skills and gain the best from your time in the group sessions.
